FAQs
What is Paintball?
A paintball is a round, thin-skinned gelatin capsule filled with colored liquid. Paintballs are similar to large vitamin capsules or bath oil beads. The fill inside is non-toxic, non-caustic, water-soluble, and biodegradable. It washes out of clothing and off skin with mild soap and water. While technically edible, we don’t recommend eating them.
Low-Impact or Traditional Paintball?
Low-Impact Paintball uses a smaller paintball that travels at a lower velocity, making it ideal for first-time players or those who prefer a less intense experience. Only our paintball guns can be used for this option.
Ages 6+
Traditional Paintball has a greater impact and is better suited for experienced players or those looking for a more tactical game. Players are allowed to bring their own paintball guns.
Ages 8+
What is airsoft?
Airsoft uses 6mm round BBs made of hard plastic. It has about the same impact as paintball but leaves no mess.
Ages 10+
Will it hurt when i get hit?
Getting hit by a paintball can sting, but it’s part of the game’s excitement. The thrill of running, dodging, and competing adds to the adrenaline rush. The impact is often compared to being snapped with a towel and usually fades within seconds.
If you’re looking for a low-impact option with no sting, try GellyBall! It offers all the fun of paintball without the pain, making it a great choice for younger players or those who prefer a gentler experience.
What items should I bring?
Summer: Bug spray and sunscreen are essential. Apply bug spray before playing, but avoid spraying near goggles as it can damage lenses and plastic equipment.
Winter: Lip balm and warm gloves are a must.
Since this is an outdoor activity, dress accordingly for the weather.
Is paintball safe?
Yes, safety is a top priority. All players must wear full-face masks with ear protection. Before each visit, all participants receive a safety briefing covering park rules, proper equipment use, and gameplay. Additionally, all markers must be chronographed before each game to ensure they do not exceed the maximum velocity of 285 fps.
What type of rental equipment can I rent?
We offer Tippmann 98 and BT Combat markers as basic rentals. These markers fire 3-4 balls per second with an accuracy range of approximately 100 feet. Rentals also include:
- Full-face goggles
- 200-round loader
- 48 ci compressed air tank (good for 500 shots per fill)
- Barrel sleeve for safety
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes, but all equipment must meet our safety standards:
- Goggles: Must be full-face masks, unaltered, and free of cracks.
- Markers: Both paintball and airsoft markers are allowed but must be inspected by staff before use. SMP staff has the final decision.
- Barrel Sleeves: Required on all paintball markers.
- CO2 & HPA Tanks: Must be within test date. High-pressure fiber-wrapped tanks cannot have cracks, fraying, or unauthorized coverings.
- Velocity Limit: Markers must not exceed 280 fps.
Can I bring my own paintballs?
No, we are a Field Paint Only facility. This policy ensures:
- No hazardous or staining paintballs
- No non-breaking paintballs
- Environmentally friendly, USA-made paintballs
What should I wear?
Dress for the season:
General: Long pants and long-sleeve shirts help provide a barrier between paintballs and your skin.
Summer: Light-colored clothing to stay cool.
Winter: Sweatshirts or hoodies for warmth and extra padding.
Be mindful of mobility—too many layers can restrict movement. Dirt and clay from the field may cause more wear on clothing than the paint itself.
